Slow Factory is the trade name of The Library Study Hall Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 83-1973980), PO Box 525, Nyack, NY 10960. This policy explains what personal information we collect through slowfactory.earth, how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
When you sign up for our newsletter we collect your email address. Our newsletter is sent through Brevo, which stores your address and records whether emails are opened. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
Donations and memberships are processed by Donorbox, with payments handled by Stripe or PayPal. We receive your name, email address, billing address, donation amount and frequency so we can send tax receipts and manage your membership. We never see or store your full card details.
If you create a member account we store your name, email address and membership details using Google Firebase, so you can sign in and access member programs.
Some programs, such as fellowships and Open Edu courses, use forms (including Google Forms) to collect the information you choose to submit, such as your name, contact details and application answers.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, and Google Ads to measure how well our ads, including those run through the Google Ad Grants program, reach people interested in our work. These services use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and how you arrived at our site. We do not send your name, email address or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics or Google Ads.
You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and control ad personalization in your Google ad settings. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How we use your information
We use personal information to process donations and send receipts, deliver memberships and programs, send newsletters you have asked for, respond to your messages, improve our website and programs, and meet our legal and accounting obligations as a nonprofit.
Sharing
We share personal information only with the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf, and when required by law. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Retention
We keep donation records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. We keep other information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or until you ask us to delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you emails, by contacting us at studio@slowfactory.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Children
Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
